Inspect & Maintain Safety Equipment • Check Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Test detectors and replace batteries to ensure they function properly. • Inspect Fire Extinguishers: Ensure fire extinguishers are in good condition and accessible in emergencies. 9. Service the Water Heater • Check for Leaks: Inspect the water heater for signs of leaks or corrosion. • Flush the Tank: Flush the tank to remove sediment buildup and improve efficiency. 10. Plan for Storms • Check Emergency Supplies: Ensure you have a stocked emergency kit with essentials such as water, non-perishable food, and first aid supplies. • Trim Trees and Shrubs: Trim overgrown trees and shrubs to prevent damage during storms. • Secure Outdoor Items: Secure or store outdoor furniture, grills, and other items that could become projectiles during high winds.
